POLICY ALERT: Implications of CRA Fundraising Guidelines for Your Organization
As we have reported in previous email bulletins, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has proposed new guidelines for fundraising by charities. These guidelines could have serious implications for all charities, in particular, small and mid-size charities.
Reminder: National Do Not Call List set to launch September 30
The National Do Not Call List and changes to the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules are set to begin September 30, 2008.

Participants needed for Volunteer Alberta focus groups
Intersections: Supporting Rural Organizations to Better Engage Immigrant Volunteers is a pilot project to increase the ability of rural nonprofit/voluntary sector (NPVS) organizations to engage immigrant volunteers. Focus groups for both managers of volunteers and immigrants in the pilot communities of Grande Prairie, Brooks, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Okotoks, Red Deer, Vegreville and Wood Buffalo will be held this fall. HR Council releases report on paid employment in the nonprofit sector
The HR Council for the Voluntary & Non-profit Sector’s Labour Force Study has released its second report, Findings from Canada-wide Surveys of Employers and Employees. The Survey of Employees provides new statistical information about the demographic characteristics of the people who work in the sector, what they find satisfying and dissatisfying about their jobs, and their plans and expectations for the future.
New report available on corporate social responsibility
The Conference Board of Canada has released The Role of the Board of Directors in Corporate Social Responsibility. The report examines corporate social responsibility and ways in which a board of directors can provide oversight and strategic direction on a firm's social and environmental performance.
Two Reports on the War on Terror and its effects on American & Canadian Charities
Collateral Damage: How the War on Terror Hurts Charities, Foundations, and the People They Serve details examples of the struggles facing non-profits in the U.S. in the face of compliance with anti-terrorism laws, especially those operating internationally, including in Canada.
