This approach enhances the quality of life for children living with cancer, improves their odds for recovery and provides care for the whole family, during treatment and beyond.

The Director of Philanthropy will lead and inspire, with strategy, vision, passion, and hard work, an agile and skilled fund development team. The primary focus of this role is to elevate the current and marked success of the organization while seeking new and innovative opportunities to engage the philanthropic community. The Director will develop and implement a cohesive and comprehensive strategy that will grow philanthropic support so that Kids Cancer Care can continue to meet its bold, long-term community and financial objectives.
Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining the strategic direction of all fund development activities—major gifts, sponsorship, individual and corporate donations, grant writing, direct mail, special events, community fundraising initiatives and planned giving. This position will lead, manage, and contribute to, the performance of a highly motivated development team of seven skilled practitioners.
The Director will work collaboratively with this team, which has recently been reorganized to best leverage the donor relationships essential to delivering Kids Cancer Care’s mission. The position will work closely with the CEO, the senior leadership team, as well as members of the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record, spanning over ten years, of achieving fundraising goals in a fast-paced, results oriented and collaborative environment. The Director will be an exceptional leader of staff and projects. Keen to listen, learn and grow our potential, the ideal candidate will share fresh ideas and push boundaries when appropriate.
Equipped with excellent team building, planning, budgeting, analytic, and organizational abilities, the ideal candidate will be action-driven in the pursuit of sustainable and successful fund development initiatives. Authentically engaging, the Director will elevate the sights of the team and the organization to recognize what is possible when donors and Kids Cancer Care come together to change the face of childhood cancer.
Possessing strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, integrity, and creativity, the ideal candidate will champion the importance of meaningful donor stewardship and continually enhanced donor engagement. Knowledge of Calgary’s, Alberta’s and Canada’s business sectors, as well as experience in a variety of cultivation and solicitation methods, including extensive and expanding digital marketing strategies. The ability to network in any community or culture and establish new relationships is vital.
