POSITION TITLE:            Director of Development                   

REPORTING TO:             Vice President, Development

 

JOB SUMMARY

Hospitals of Regina Foundation (HRF) is dedicated to improving patients’ lives by raising funds for the advancement of health care in our community. Over 30 years, the Foundation has raised more than $175 million and supported a full range of enhanced health care services, education and patient-centered research for Regina’s three hospitals – Regina General Hospital, Pasqua Hospital and Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.

Reporting to the Vice President, Development, the Director of Development is primarily responsible for managing a pool of prospects and securing major gifts in support of the Foundation.  In addition, the Director will manage several of the development programs at Hospitals of Regina Foundation, mentoring and supervising fundraising staff.  Committed to success, goal oriented, and possessing great personal relationship skills, the Director of Development is a highly respected and proven major gifts fundraiser.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Personally manage a portfolio of approximately 150 major gift donors and prospects for personal, face-to-face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship 
  • Formulate strategic and tactical plans for the successful cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects and ensure personalized recognition and stewardship of donors 
  • Achieve ambitious major gift activity and fundraising goals
  • Develop customized, high-quality and compelling major gifts proposals and stewardship impact reports 
  • Actively engage and steward all donors in the portfolio through regular, thoughtful and strategic stewardship moves 
  • Provide fundraising support to the President & CEO and the Vice President 
  • Supervise, coach and support fundraising staff and foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree, or post-secondary diploma
  • A minimum of seven years direct fundraising experience, with a focus on major gifts; proven ability to manage a major gift portfolio of donors/prospects
  • Demonstrated growth in the fundraising profession with a proven track record of success
  • Experience with planned giving and annual fund programs (direct response campaigns, grateful patient programs, tribute giving, etc)
  • A CFRE designation will be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Raisers Edge and data base management skills highly desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

OCCUPATION NEEDS

The Director of Development works 37.5 hours per week, based out of an office environment. However, the Director will work outside of these hours as a result of meetings with donors and required attendance at community and HRF events.
