The Association of Fundraising Professionals Calgary & Area Chapter Mentorship Program matches an experienced fundraising professional, a mentor, with someone new to the industry (or an individual looking to grow within their career), a protégé. This match provides opportunities for both individuals to learn and expand their knowledge of the field. This program plays a key function in achieving the Association of Fundraising Professionals mission: "Advancing Philanthropy through education, training and advocacy".
Benefits of participation in the Mentorship Program are multi-faceted and far reaching. Mentors and Protégés provide each other with new insights they may use within their own organizations. Protégés gain knowledge and information from an experienced fundraiser that will assist them with current and future endeavours. Mentors have the opportunity to learn new and creative ideas through their protégés.
Protégés decide where they would like to focus their growth and development (may include areas such as annual campaign, planned giving, and grant writing). Mentors are able to provide their knowledge and wisdom in their choice of areas, which may or may not be part of their current role. Matches are based on their mutual areas of interest.
Broadly, the Mentorship Program offers an opportunity for members to meet new individuals and learn about other non-profit organizations in the community. The Mentorship Program is a perfect opportunity to expand your knowledge of the non-profit sector.
Mentor / Protégé matches are made year round, please complete one of the online forms to start the process today.
