National Philanthropy Day® 2012

It’s already that time of year again as we ramp up the celebration for National Philanthropy Awareness Week Presented by Cenovus Energy.    

Mark your calendar – November 15, 2012 for the highly-anticipated National Philanthropy Day luncheon presented by RBC.  Once again, we will be at the BMO Centre on the Stampede Grounds.  National Philanthropy Day® is a special day set aside once a year to recognize great contributions of philanthropy and those who are actively making our community a better place to live, work and play.

This is the flagship event of National Philanthropy Awareness Week activities. More than 1,200 people will hear inspiring stories of philanthropy through the examples set by the Generosity of Spirit™ Honourees. You will celebrate the accomplishments of the nonprofit sector, and be challenged to change your world through a giving heart.

AFP Calgary & Area Chapter is pleased to welcome back Dave Kelly of the Kelly Brothers as the Masters of Ceremonies.  We are also delighted to announce Angela Knight of CBC’s The Eye Opener as Dave’s co-host for the 2012 National Philanthropy Day® luncheon.

We will also be paying a special tribute to Hazel Gillespie, community investment extraordinaire, who sadly passed away earlier this year.  We will learn more about her incredible and inspiring contributions to our community.

The Youth Forum is back again joining our festivities with First Calgary Financial as Presenting Sponsor.  As we celebrate philanthropy in Hall A, close to 100 high school students will be applying their learnings about giving back to the community in the Palamino Room.

And lastly, we are excited to announce some history-making news.  For the first time in the history of National Philanthropy Day®, CBC Calgary will be our TV and radio sponsor.  Keep your eyes out for the cameras!!!

Charities find the National Philanthropy Day® Luncheon is an ideal way to say thank you to key donors and volunteers. Companies use the event to strengthen their partnerships and commitment to supporting community organizations. Service clubs and foundations similarly find involvement in the luncheon program uplifting and helpful to their efforts.
