Welcome to the Calgary & Area Chapter

AFP Calgary & Area Chapter was founded in 1996 and has now nearly 400 active AFP members, who serve as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executive and other individuals dedicated to fundraising and philanthropy.

AFP Calgary & Area has regular scheduled lunch meeting featuring local speakers and topic relevant to your every day work.  The chapter also offers education and networking opportunities such as Banff Compass, National Philanthropy Day luncheon, audio conferences and CFRE study groups to help meet the needs of fundraisers at all levels.


Friends of Diversity

 

Congratulations AFP Calgary & Area Chapter members on achieveing the Friends of Diversity designation for 2014.

The Friends of Diversity Designation recognizes those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the advancing diversity strategic goal. This designation encourages chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase diversity within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy in all cultures.

The Fund Development Officer will develop new prospects, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors and events to grow and sustain meaningful and lasting relationships. The successful candidate will have a minimum three years fundraising or sales experience, a demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of fund development, is comfortable with soliciting donations and sponsorships, and demonstrated results. This position requires a self-starter with the ability to manage time and plan effectively while working both individually and within a team environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills conveying information with accuracy and diplomacy enhanced with strong organizational skills is essential to this position as well as experience in public speaking and making presentations to larger groups. Applicants must have access to a vehicle. CRFE Certification is considered an asset. (Toronto, Ontario) – The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada has received a multiyear grant, valued at $403,674, from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade to create a fellowship program that will support and train fundraisers from diverse backgrounds.
