Welcome to the Calgary & Area Chapter

AFP Calgary & Area Chapter was founded in 1996 and has now nearly 400 active AFP members, who serve as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executive and other individuals dedicated to fundraising and philanthropy.

AFP Calgary & Area has regular scheduled lunch meeting featuring local speakers and topic relevant to your every day work.  The chapter also offers education and networking opportunities such as Banff Compass, National Philanthropy Day luncheon, audio conferences and CFRE study groups to help meet the needs of fundraisers at all levels.

Nov 28 - Manager, Annual Giving
We are searching for a dedicated individual, who is a self starter for the position of Manager, Annual Giving. This person is responsible for the management and execution of a comprehensive annual giving program, which includes continual development of a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. The Manager develops a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, special events, grant writing, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation, donor engagement and volunteer/family/resident engagement, all focused on shaping and growing a sustainable tradition of annual support. In addition, the Manager will foster the growth of best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management and donor relations as related to annual giving and The Brenda Strafford Foundation as a whole. The science centre is a non-profit organization designed to motivate people to learn about and contribute to advances in science and technology to strengthen themselves, their families, and their community. The Aurora Project injects TWOSE with renewed energy, illuminating the amazing world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math in the astonishing range of creativity that is the pinnacle to human achievement. The Major Gifts Officer will play a critical role in building the organization’s fundraising capacity by focusing on philanthropic investments and building a diverse base of engaged donors through an innovative program that attracts funds to the Aurora Project. This individual will identify, research, and cultivate qualified prospects, moving prospects and past donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure - focusing on soliciting gifts of $25,000 and more. The Major Gifts Officer is an integral contributor to securing the $7.5 million in private philanthropic support that is essential in realizing the goals of the Aurora Project.
