Welcome to the Calgary & Area Chapter

AFP Calgary & Area Chapter was founded in 1996 and has now nearly 400 active AFP members, who serve as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executive and other individuals dedicated to fundraising and philanthropy.

AFP Calgary & Area has regular scheduled lunch meeting featuring local speakers and topic relevant to your every day work.  The chapter also offers education and networking opportunities such as Banff Compass, National Philanthropy Day luncheon, audio conferences and CFRE study groups to help meet the needs of fundraisers at all levels.

Congratulations AFP Calgary & Area Chapter members on achieveing both the AFP Ten Star Gold Award and the Friends of Diversity designation for 2014/15.

The Ten Star Gold Awards honor those chapters who have accomplised 10 required goals and 6 optional goals from the key objectives outlined in the Strategic Plan in a calendar year.

The Friends of Diversity Designation recognizes those chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the advancing diversity strategic goal. This designation encourages chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase diversity within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy in all cultures.


AFP Calgary & Area offices will be closed April 21 - 27, 2015. Emails and voicemails will be checked on a regular basis.

Apr 17 - Event Coordinator - 15 Month Contract (Maternity Leave)
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta Kids Cancer Care (KCC) is passionately dedicated to helping young people affected by cancer and their families survive and thrive in body, mind and spirit. KCC provides programs and funding in four crucial areas: Camp & Community, Pediatric Oncology Research, Hospital Support and Scholarships. This approach enhances the quality of life for children living with cancer, improves their odds for recovery and provides care for the whole family, during treatment and beyond. The Opportunity Generous support from the community enables KCC to run vital programs for families affected by childhood cancer. A large percentage of that support comes through fundraising events. We are seeking a dynamic individual who will coordinate signature events for the Foundation. This position is a 15 month contract to cover a maternity leave. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for 1) the year-round Shave Your Lid for a Kid® program 2) the High Hopes Challenge and 3) Tour for Kids Alberta. The Event Coordinator will also play a key role in other events such as the Parents’ Quest for a Cure Gala, the Dad and Daughter Gala and the Don, Joanne and the Coach Golf a Kid to Camp Tournament. Each of these events has enjoyed enthusiastic support from the community, raising significant funds for KCC programs.
