AFP Calgary & Area Chapter was founded in 1996 and has now nearly 400 active AFP members, who serve as development directors, fundraising consultants, grant writers, volunteer fundraisers, foundation executive and other individuals dedicated to fundraising and philanthropy.
AFP Calgary & Area has regular scheduled lunch meeting featuring local speakers and topic relevant to your every day work. The chapter also offers education and networking opportunities such as Banff Compass, National Philanthropy Day luncheon, audio conferences and CFRE study groups to help meet the needs of fundraisers at all levels.

May 3 - Director of Development
Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President of Development, and working closely with the Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS), the Director of Development will direct a Faculty Development team consisting of staff dedicated to fundraising for Faculty priorities and for other York University Advancement priorities. This will include establishing and implementing an Advancement plan for LA&PS, managing two Development staff, serving as a key Advancement liaison with the Dean, and leading, managing and recommending improvements to LA&PS fundraising processes. The incumbent will also cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects, including individuals, foundations and corporations, for funding priorities in LA&PS and across the University.

This position reports to the Director of Development in the School of Public Policy and works closely with the Palmer Chair’s Office, the University’s Central Development Office, University Relations, Financial Services, senior faculty leadership, and other relevant areas of the university. The Associate Director of Development is involved in strategic planning and implementation for the School’s Fund Development program, and has access to highly sensitive and confidential information.
